My lovely weekend...

Photobucket

I love when guests come to our place. I love when house is full of people. We hadn't had anyone since this summer (my best friend) until this weekend my mom's cousin' Kadri came to visit us from Luxembourg for two days. So it was quite a relaxing weekend. In the evening we watched films and ate some ice-cream with baked apples.

Although it's already November, the wheather has been amazingly warm and beautiful.
I think it's the best Autumn so far I've been here.

The apples covered with cinnamon baking in the oven.

The final result. Ice-cram + the baked apple + roasted sweet cereals. Mmm..

Kadri's present for us: twe lovely espresso cups, by Villeroy & Boch.

Every time a friend or a parent of ours comes to visit us, we have a great excuse to play turists. And though almost everyone from our family back in Estonia has been here (my 89-year old grand-grand-mother and 6-year old cousin included), we still haven't seen EVERYTHING there is to see in Rome or near Rome. (And in this case I'm not talking about Colosseum or Palatino Hill or other typical turist-must-see. I've been there even more times than half of my class all together, belive. ) This time we went to see Ostia Antica. It used to be the harbour city of Ancient Rome, founded already back in 7 AD by Ancus Marcius, one of the seven kings who ruled Rome before the republic era. (source:wiki) (click!).
It was a really nice day. We had fun by playing hide and seek, italians call it Mini-Pompei. So the "streets" form sort of a labyrinth. I almost got lost when I forgot myself on photographing the site and everyone else had already went on. It's really huge and beautiful. You need atleast 4 hours for it. It somehow reminded me Via Appia Antica and the Palatine Hill in the center of Rome.

There were many mosaics so well-preserved. This part used to be a Spa once.

I found this beautiful scuplture in the middle-of nowhere, so alone. It was here that I forgot myself on taking pictures- the light was so great.

I will never get tired of the beauty of Ancient Rome and the Imperial Architecture, and I'll never get tired discovering it!:)
I hope you liked the pictures and enjoyed this post.
Have you ever been to Rome and if yes, what emotions did you get?

These are gorgeous photos Merilin. Makes me miss Italy. Need to return for another trip. Have never been to Ostia Antica though . . . Rome was the first place in Europe that I visited when I was a kid. I've loved it since then.
