"VELENO"

So here are the shoots of the exhibition. We didn't stay for long, just the time to enjoy a glass of wine and see the works. I liked it, great works. Btw, Veleno in italian means poison.









I couldn't not shoot the toys of De La Soul, one of my favourite hip hop groups of the 80's!


















SO TRUE. This was almost my favourite work. In italian television all you see is basically - sorry for my language - tits and buts. Ahh and Berlusconi too, represented as a martyr.









They served us some poison, too... ;)

My Friday is Saturday!

As most of you are preparing for Friday night out, I'm... preparing myself to go to sleep - I've got school tomorrow, not that cool at all. Ah, but no worries, tomorrow night will compense everything as I'll be going with my friends to the vernissage of "VELENO", an exhibition of two italian artists, DIAMOND and JB Rock, who mainly do stencils. It's held in the MondoPOP Gallery, in Via dei Greci 30. I'll be definitely taking some pictures, so be ready! In the meanwhile here is a track I've been listening a lot lately, from the Hed Kandi 88 Nu Disco album.

Sten and Lex, two anonymous italian street artists

I just found this clip on web and thought I should definitely share it with you guys. Remember post you about the street art event OUTDOOR held in Garbatella? If somebody of you missed it you can read the post and see the pictures here. Great event. These four minutes are specifically dedicated to a couple of artists, Sten and Lex, who performed their work during that event. They talk shortly about how they started and which tecniques they use, what inspires them and what they think about Rome as a city. Besides being considered as the "pioners" of stencil art in Rome, they are famous all around the world thanks for their signature style called the "hole school" which consists in the use of pixels, small spots and lines in the creating of the stencils. This is the picture I took of the building in Garbatella, during the OUTDOOR.

OUTDOOR vernissage in Garbatella

Friday evening I went on "OUTDOOR" vernissage, which was held in Palladium Theatre in Garbatella. Garbatella is famous for lotti's (former housing units) and thanks for particular urban planning & architecture in the past 20 years this neighbourhood has transformed from a poor working class district into a in a hip residential area. And no wonder- Garbatella with it's cozy little villas and delifghtful flowery balconies is like a small garden city. Anyway, this is the first street art exhibition on currently occupied public housing in Italy with the aim to show how street art can enhance urban spaces. And let me tell you, I have a big weekness for street art, quality street art ofcourse (read: for street art artists).

Me and Concetta with all the chit chat got distracted and went on the opposite direction of where the indicated buildings with the art "on" them were. It wasn't hard to mistaken, as many buildings in Garbatella are covered with different decorations and paintings, writings (with strong political messages).



Writings like "Ti Amo" are as common as pigeons in Rome, this caught my eye for it's colour though.



All you need is wall... and a permission. It was a great thing that Rome's Municipio gave the permission for such an innovative thing.. I was surprised first when I heard..
